Bismillaah! They (non-Muslims) ask, "If Muhammad was a prophet of God, why did he not have miracles?" Therefore, we will present a glimpse of this subject; "Muhammad’s Miracles”. First, we must remember that no single Prophet of God had ever declared that miracles were performed by his own ingenuity. All of them submitted that those miracles were through God's power. The following were miracles of God granted to Prophet Muhammad, (peace be upon him):


1) The splitting of the Moon into two parts. This happened when the polytheistic Arabs (Mushrikoon) challenged Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to show proof of being a prophet. (Sahih Al-Bukhari vol. 4: 831-832).


2) The date-palm stem near which the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) used to deliver his sermons cried so much so that it was about to burst.. (Sahih Al-Bukhari vol. 3:308).


3) #9; The flowing of water from his fingers. When they ran out of water in the desert, his companions complained to him. Thereupon, he ordered them to collect their containers and prayed to God; he placed his hands on the big container and the water flowed from his fingers; 1,400 people were satisfied, made their ablution and filled their containers. (Sahih Al-Bukhari vol. 7:543)


4) The food was heard praising God while Muhammad (pbuh) was eating (Sahih Al-Bukhari vol. 4: 779)


5) The dead body of the apostate was ejected from the grave three times. Prior to his death, he had made verbal attacks against Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).(Sahih Al-Bukhari vol. 4: 814).


6) The waterless well in Al-Hudaibiya brought forth its water—Sahih Al-Bukhari vol. 4:777.


7) Date-palm trees bear fruits tremendously increased. There was a son whose father died with debt. He complained to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) that if he would wait every season for the dates to pay his father's debt, it would take years for him to pay. At harvest time, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) went to the son and made supplication, immediately the dates increased. The son paid his father's debt at once and the volume of dates remained the same as if nothing had been taken. (Sahih Al-Bukhari vol. 4: 780).


8) The ascension of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to heaven. This is a long story, I urge truth seekers to read in Sahih Al-Bukhari vol. 4:607, 640, 647,648, 5:228, 6:240 & 8:610


It is hard for non-Muslims to believe that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) ascended to heaven and came back to earth. It is mentioned by God in the Qur'aan (17:1). However, Christians believe that Jesus Christ, Elijah and Enoch (pbut) were taken up by God physically to heaven, right? Muhammad (pbuh) was taken up by God to heaven and returned him to earth without difficulty, for God is able to do all things.


9) Hundreds of Muhajirin and Ansar (companions of the Prophet Muhammad-pbuh) ate from a little bread and small she-goat: After all his companions ate, the couple who prepared the food ate the rest with great surprise. (Sahih Al-Buhkari Vol. 5:427)

10) There was no rain for a long period: the livestock were dying and the roads were cut off; a man requested the Prophet to pray for rain during Friday-sermon. The prophet prayed, and instantly it was raining for seven days. (Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol. 2:126.)


11) The Qur'aan: This is the most outstanding and lasting miracle given by God to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). All the miracles given by God to previous prophets were observable only during their times. But the miracle granted to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)-The Qur'aan is still with us today. There are many other miracles that Allaah granted to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) which are left unmentioned, due to space limitation.


In the Qur'aan, you will be astonished to find the categorical words of God concerning the established scientific findings, such as the “Big Bang Theory”, formation of the mountains, level of darkness below the ocean, the origin of life, sexes of the plants, gravity, men's capability to explore the universe, the formation of the embryos, the barriers of the seas, etc. The Qur'aan is not only a book of science, it also teaches history, social science, politics, economics, protection against witch-craft, metaphysics, self-discipline, and so forth. But its main function is the guidance of mankind.


THE QUR’AAN AND SAHIH HADITH CONTAIN THE SOLUTION TO OUR PRESENT AND FUTURE UNCERTAINTIES

Muhammad (pbuh) could not read and write, but his teachings far excel those of all the nations of the world combined together as solutions to the problems of humanity: war, human rights violation, poverty, immoralities, trade monopoly and capitalism, communism and socialism, suicide, alcoholism, rape, homosexuality, child abuse, divorce, oppression, agression, incest, epidemics, etc. Is it not a miracle that all the problems in our modern times have had solutions during Camel Period? The solutions to all the above problems are in the Qur'aan and in the Sahih Hadith.


MIRACLES OF MOSES AND JESUS (PBUT) HAVE PASSED ON

The miracles of Jesus (pbuh), (giving life to the dead, healing the lepers, feeding thousands of people from a small amount of bread), ... are all gone. The miracle of Moses (pbuh), (dividing the Red Sea, raining bread from heaven, the appearance of a legion of quails, the use of his rod) are all gone. But the most outstanding miracle of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is the Qur'aan. Today, it is still present and you can see it and touch it.


THE QUR'AAN IS THE LIVING MIRACLE

The Qur'aan is the only book that has been literally memorized by millions of people from cover to cover. There are non-Arabic speaking people who have memorized the Qur'aan in Arabic better than the Arabs. It is a miracle indeed! The Qur'aan remains pure without human interpolation and manipulation. The Qur'aan has never been revised up to this moment, even by a word or a letter.


Read the Qur'aan and biography of Muhammad (pbuh) and you will find the solution (medicine) to your problelm, whether material or spiritual. None of the Prophets of God claimed that the miracles they performed were of their own accord. The miracles mentioned above are in answer to ardent requests from non-Muslims and new Muslim converts.


The Miracles of Muhammad (pbuh) as well as the miracles of Abraham, Moses, Elijah, Jesus…peace be upon them, big or small, were all miracles of God.


The greatest of all miracles given by God is the Qur’an. Because even today you can hold and see it. It has never been revised (changed) and its words are amazing because they supersede all books written by great leaders of the world. Finally, the Qur’an is applicable to all human daily chores: and billions of people (Muslims and non-Muslims alike) who wish to implement it and to be a constitution of the land.
